Museum Tours
Helping to carry out our mission of promoting and preserving the history of aviation, we offer museum tours that offer something for everyone. Whether you're a vintage aircraft enthusiast, history buff, or simply looking for "something different to do", our tours are designed to help you gain insight through experience with our collection of vintage military aircraft, artifacts and reference library. And with our focus of showcasing it through aviation in Delaware, the Delaware Coastal Airport, and as a contributor to Tourism in Southern Delaware, we offer the flexibility of tours by appointment.
For vintage aircraft fans and lovers of classic machinery and engineering of all types, we are proud to offer the following aircraft in our collection, some of which are among the most famous in our country's history:
- B-25J Mitchell "Panchito"
- Aeronca L-16
- U-78 Bobcat
- DH-82C Tiger Moth
- DHC-1 Chipmunk
- L-19/O-1 Bird Dog
- L17A Navion
We are also honored to host the Jeffrey L. Ethel Aviation Library, which contains thousands of aviation-related books and a large and varied collection of aviation magazines, videos, technical documentation and aviation-related fiction and non-fiction books. This collection is particularly prized by us because it was curated by Mr. Ethel, a lifelong aviation enthusiast, whose experience, detailed research and passion on this subject serves as a fantastic educational resource for current and future generations.
In addition to these extraordinary exhibits and resources, we also have a wonderful collection of period-correct artifacts, showcased by some of the pictures here, that also helps put people in touch with American History they way few other exhibits can.
This is a working museum with active aircraft maintenance going on at all times. We welcome guests any time we are open. For the safety of our guests, all tours must be scheduled in advance by contacting us at info@delawareaviationmuseum.org or by calling 443-458-8926 so that a museum docent can be scheduled to escort you or your group. All tours are by appointment only. No un-escorted visitors are allowed in the museum hangar or exhibit areas at any time. We will do our best to schedule a docent to escort your tour but since everyone here is a volunteer, we may not be able to accommodate everyone's request.
